The MLS continues to grow and evolve, with new teams and stadiums being added to the league every year. We'll take a look at the 5 newest stadiums in the MLS and explore their seating capacities and the estimated values of owning an MLS franchise.
Allianz Field, Minnesota United FC: Allianz Field opened in 2019 and has a seating capacity of 19,400. It has a look and feel indistinguishable on television from any other top pitch around the world. The stadium features a unique, translucent canopy roof that covers most of the seating, providing a memorable game-day experience for fans. The estimated value of Minnesota United FC is around $250 million.
TQL Stadium, Cincinnati FC: TQL Stadium opened in 2021 and has a seating capacity of 26,000. Bring on the Cincinnati vs Columbus rivalry in this bright loud temple of soccer. Although Cincinnati was a very strong USL team, they've had a difficult time rediscovering winning ways. But the atmosphere has never changed and the fans are excited and color coordinated. The stadium is designed with the fan experience in mind, with a variety of seating options, including the "Bailey," a safe-standing section for passionate fans. The estimated value of Cincinnati FC is around $325 million.
BMO Stadium, LAFC: BMO Stadium (formerly Banc of California Stadium) opened in 2018 and has a seating capacity of 22,000. The stadium is located in the heart of Los Angeles and is known for its unique design surrounded by palm trees. And, at every game you will see a celebrity guaranteed. It's an open-air seating two level bowl, with loudest supporters section in MLS, the 3252. The estimated value of LAFC is around $475 million.
Audi Field, D.C. United: Audi Field opened in 2018 and has a seating capacity of 20,000. Although so much of D.C. United's greatest triumphs will forever be attached to RFK, one of the original MLS stadiums, the new stadium is building on the rich history of the club and writing new chapters. Audi Field has already been home to superstar Wayne Rooney, who left his mark as a player and now coaches them. This stadium is located in the heart of Washington, D.C. and is known for its modern design, featuring a variety of seating options, including a VIP section and a safe-standing section for passionate fans. The estimated value of D.C. United is around $400 million.
Dignity Health Sports Park, LA Galaxy: Dignity Health Sports Park opened in 2003 and has a seating capacity of 27,000. There's so much rich history here, and the trophies are on display to remind you why. It's long overdue for an upgrade, even if it means losing the iconic grass area. This stadium could create an amazing atmosphere second only to BMO Stadium, if they could close the seating bowl two levels high. The stadium is located in Carson, California and is the home of the LA Galaxy, one of the most successful franchises in the MLS. The estimated value of the LA Galaxy is around $325 million.
The MLS continues to evolve and grow, with new teams and stadiums being added to the league every year. The 5 newest stadiums in the MLS offer a variety of seating capacities and designs, making them a must-visit for soccer fans. With estimated franchise values ranging from $250 million to $475 million, owning an MLS franchise is a lucrative investment opportunity for those with a passion for the sport.
Out of these five, we believe that BMO Stadium is the best due to its proximity to downtown Los Angeles, which is also right next to the historic Los Angeles Coliseum, and the likelihood of a celebrity spotting at every game. LAFC also have a well deserved reputation as having the best fan experience in the league with the always loud 3252 supporters section.
